AutoLoanCanada (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates an auto-finance matching service. We are not a lender, dealer, or seller of vehicles. We connect Canadians with a network of automotive dealer partners and the lenders those dealers work with. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we share it, and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation).
Information we collect
- Application information you provide: name, contact details (email, phone), location (province, city, postal code), vehicle preferences, employment and income details, and self-described credit information.
- Consent records: the exact wording of each consent you were shown, whether you checked it, and the date and time — see our CASL Express Consent Policy.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser/user agent, and pages visited, collected to operate and secure the site.
- Marketing attribution: referral source and campaign parameters (e.g. UTM tags) associated with your visit.
How we use your information
- To match you with a dealer in our network suited to your situation.
- To contact you about your application and financing options, where you have consented.
- To operate, secure, improve, and analyze our service.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including maintaining consent records.
Who we share it with
When you submit an application, your information is shared with one Canadian dealer in our network and the lenders that dealer works with, so that they may review your information and contact you with financing offers. We do not sell your information to broader lead aggregators or marketers.
We also use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only as needed to deliver the service:
- Customer relationship management (CRM) hosting;
- Email and SMS delivery for application confirmations and, with consent, marketing;
- Website hosting, security, and analytics.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Consent and withdrawal
We rely on your consent to contact you and to share your application as described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing unsubscribe@[domain], replying STOP to any SMS, or using the unsubscribe link in our emails. Withdrawing consent does not affect applications already shared with a dealer.
How long we keep your information
We retain application and consent records for [24 months] after your last interaction, or longer where required by law, after which they are securely deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
Subject to legal limits, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or request its deletion. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@[domain]. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site function and, where you have consented, for analytics and advertising measurement. Non-essential analytics and advertising tags do not load before consent.
Data location
Your information may be stored or processed by service providers located in or outside Canada [confirm provider locations], and is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions while there.
